Stags Head Kitchen Remodeling Project
The Stags Head Kitchen Remodeling Project developed out of the need to create a lighter and more open kitchen space. Originally the 1958 structure housed a small, u-shaped, outdated kitchen. To make matters worse, all walls, cabinets, and ceiling were coated in very dark paint. Having only two small windows limited the flow of incoming light in this wooded surrounding, and low ceilings made the room feel very compressed.
To open up the space, our team created a cathedral ceiling and replaced the peninsula with an island, which allowed people to move about the kitchen and the eating area more freely. The addition of several skylights and windows allowed natural light to enter from the outside, while white new cabinets and all white paint lightened up the inside.
With so much lightness, the room now needed a dark element to ground the rest. This was achieved by installing blue pearl granite countertops, adding a very elegant and sophisticated touch.
Finally, a built-in niche was created to display art, while a window seat provided extra seating in the dining area - and both components were achieved without taking up any of the already limited floor space.
